Our Story

Our History

Founded in 2023, Projects 2 Passports emerged from a collective commitment to address cultural awareness and economic disparities affecting young girls from underserved communities. Our organization was born out of a deep passion for nurturing the potential within these girls and offering them the tools they need to explore, learn, and thrive on a global scale.

Our Founder, who was born and raised in the inner city of Chicago’s public housing at a young age had an imagination of traveling the world. MaCara’s first trip abroad was a solo trip to Cuba where she experienced the rich culture and political education of the Cuban people. This is where she realized her privilege and appreciation of life and other cultures. This was a trip of self-discovery and self-actualization of the importance of travel exposure.

We believe all girls can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower young girls from under-resourced communities with the opportunity to cultivate and develop as globally conscious leaders through world education, leadership, and travel experiences focusing on 4 components:

  • Global Awareness & Exposure: Exposure to people from various cultures, ethnicities, and religions helps students learn to appreciate those who are different from themselves.

  • Leadership: Through our leadership partner piece we empower teen girls to achieve their goals and take responsibility for their lives by learning self-directed leadership skills so they can become strong confident young ladies.

  • Relationship Building: P2P wants to inspire pro-social friendships, and strong interpersonal skills, and instill a sense of community with their cohorts and counterparts that they meet abroad. Our program should promote collaboration and a sense of solidarity among girls.

  • Civic Engagement: P2P travel exploration promotes civic engagement empowering our young girls to be well-informed citizens who are actively engaged in their communities and the world. Civic engagement cultivates emerging leaders and engaged youth, provides civic education and skills building, connects global citizens across borders, and strengthens cultural dialect and communication.

We hope to foster these major components through partnerships with other global organizations and globally aware corporations.

Our Vision

At Projects 2 Passports, we envision a world where every young girl from underserved communities has the power to dream without limits, to explore without boundaries, and to become a globally conscious citizen who shapes the future of our interconnected world.

Our vision is a world where these girls, armed with the transformative experiences of world education and travel, become confident leaders and agents of positive change in their communities and beyond. We see a future where their voices are heard, their perspectives valued, and their potential unleashed.

We aspire to create a global sisterhood of empowered young women who not only break down the barriers that hold them back but also build bridges of understanding and compassion across cultures. Through their journeys, they will develop empathy, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the richness of our diverse planet.

In this vision, we see girls of color from underprivileged backgrounds empowered to explore the world, connect with different cultures, and cultivate the skills and knowledge needed to tackle global challenges. We believe that by nurturing their curiosity, fostering their leadership potential, and expanding their horizons, we are sowing the seeds of a brighter, more inclusive, and harmonious future for all.
